Help Us Drive Our Mission

Make an Impact on the Life of a Senior

Our mission is to deliver essential services that promote the independence of seniors so they may remain in the comfort of their own homes. Volunteers are critical to our ability to do so.

Our volunteers include nearly 5,700 individuals, students, civic and community organizations, corporate groups, families, church groups and more—all committed to helping us make an impact on the lives of seniors. Together, we can deliver essential services to 11,000+ seniors throughout 13 counties every year.

We can customize a volunteer experience for you and your group! Contact Meals on Wheels Volunteer Engagement Manager Tammy Hitchcock at 513-244-0668 or thitchcock@muchmorethanameal.org.

Assembling Snack Boxes

Seniors who receive home-delivered meals also receives a week's worth of nutritious snacks. This is our biggest volunteer need, as we serve hundreds of snack boxes each week. It's also our most popular volunteer activity! Most groups turn on some music, create an assembly line and fill the boxes with cookies, fruit, crackers and other items.

Packing Pet Food

For seniors who receive home-delivered meals from us and who also care for a dog or cat, we deliver a week's worth of pet food as part of their regular meal delivery. Volunteers help us scoop, weigh and package dry food in preparation for delivery.

Super Saturdays for Superheroes

Is it difficult to find time in your weekday schedule to volunteer? No problem. On the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon, volunteers come to our production facility to lend an extra hand in our production needs. We can accommodate volunteers are young as 5 years old, making this a great family activity!

Birthday Bonanza

We love to celebrate our seniors' birthdays! Our volunteers experience just as much joy as seniors do when we recognize their special day and deliver gifts to their door. Volunteers help us decorate birthday bags with colorful artwork and fill the bags, or boxes, with a birthday card and some daily essentials like handheld brain games and toiletries. They then deliver the bag right to seniors' doors, which is the best part, as seniors absolutely love being surprised and celebrated.

Decorating birthday bags is a great corporate activity. Teams can decorate bags at their office, fill it with special items from our designated list and then deliver them to seniors.

Packaging Meals

Our production team distributes approximately 4,600 meals every weekday to home-delivered meals clients and congregate partners. Volunteers help us keep the wheels in motion by packing frozen meals and bagging them for seamless distribution.

Friendly Callers Club

Many of our clients are homebound seniors and face challenges with transportation and loneliness. Friendly Callers Club volunteers engage in weekly phone chats with the same seniors, paving the way for social engagement and friendship-building. These regular check-ins provide personable points of connection that go a long way.

Diane, a Friendly Caller Club volunteer, talks about her experiences in this Spectrum News 1 story!

The Friendly Callers Club is part of our health, wellness and social connection programs. Additional screening and training is required for this volunteer opportunity.
