Delivering food, compassion and hope
At the heart of our work is food. Everyone needs to eat. For some, though, getting access to meals each day is not always an easy task. That’s where we come in. Each day we prepare more than 4,000 meals in our restaurant-grade kitchen, all created to be both delicious and nutritious.
We offer more than 50 items on our menu that seniors can choose from—which is more than many restaurants—including meals to help them manage health issues, including high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes.
We don’t just deliver food, though. We deliver compassion and hope to seniors. Drivers bring meals directly to the seniors, offering the opportunity to check in with them.
This social interaction is crucial, as it allows our seniors to build trust and gives them the chance to share their thoughts, stories, jokes, hopes, and concerns.
It also helps minimize isolation, which can lead to depression.
These encounters also allow drivers to watch out for seniors. They are on the lookout for any issues, which are reported to the senior’s case worker or family. This attention and genuine concern is part of how we provide much more than a meal to our seniors.
