Forging connections for seniors
Our Friendly Callers Club connects older adults age 60 and over in Hamilton County with dedicated community volunteers for supportive phone conversations where you can share stories, enjoy laughs and build a meaningful friendship!
Margo is a client of Meals on Wheels who enjoys her regular calls with seniors. She particularly enjoys giving them the opportunity to share stories about themselves. She says, "It's a beautiful thing when they can open up and share their lives with you."
100% of seniors who receive friendly calls say their conversations are enjoyable and meaningful
As part of Meals on Wheels' Social Connection programs, the Friendly Callers Club is designed to reduce feelings of loneliness—a challenge that uniquely impacts older adults' and their overall well-being. Phone calls and conversations on a regular basis provide a welcome remedy for seniors who live alone.
Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, pass a background check, make a minimum of one call weekly for eight weeks. Meals on Wheels provides training for volunteers before they start calls. All calls are secure and phone numbers are masked.
